Michael D. Curran
Michael D. Curran was licensed to practice law on November 4, 1983 and was sworn in by Collin County Judge William Roberts. Mr. Curran was hired as an Assistant District Attorney in the Collin County District Attorneys Office where he served as a prosecutor from October 1, 1983 until October 1, 1986. In October of 1986 he was hired by Robert T. Dry presiding Judge of the 199th Judicial District Court of Collin County, who at the time was in private practice as the owner of the firm of Robert T. Dry and Associates. On August 1, 1987 Mr. Curran formed the partnership of Jouette and Curran with Bill Jouette who had just recently finished his service as the first County Court at Law Judge in Collin County. During this time the firm received the coveted AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell. After Mr. Jouette’s death from cancer in January 1993 Mr. Curran carried on in the firm as a solo practitioner.
During his career Mr. Curran has taught Criminal Justice at the Collin County Community College during the 1987-88 school year. Was a lecturer for the Texas District and County Attorneys Association in October 1985. Was a lecturer for the Texas Justice Court Training Center from 1992 through 1997 where he lectured at five different venues each of the five years teaching Justices of the Peace their mandatory Judicial education. Mr. Curran was one of the original five founders of the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association.
Donald R. McDermitt
Don McDermitt was licensed to practice law on November 6, 1978. Mr. McDermitt served in the JAG Corps of the United States Army from 1978 until 1982 attaining the rank of Captain. Mr. McDermitt then entered private practice in Collin County. For the last 27 years he has practiced in State and Federal Court in the North Texas area. Mr. McDermitt was one of the five founding members of the Collin County Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and has been the lead Attorney on a number of prominent cases including the Michael Blair murder case.
