Texas Sexual Assault Laws - Texas Penal Code § 22.021 - Aggravated Sexual Assault
According to the Texas Penal Code § 22.021, aggravated sexual assault is a felony of the first degree. It is a crime involving penetration or oral sex in circumstances where violence or the treat of violence is used. Aggravated sexual assault can also involve penetration or oral sex when the victim is of a certain type: age 14 or younger, elderly or disabled.
The Consequences of Child Sexual Abuse in Texas
People convicted of felony aggravated sexual assault under Texas sexual assault laws face potentially long prison sentences. In addition, any prison sentence or probation carries with it a requirement for sex offender registration. Registration represents a heightened level of extensive, or possibly lifetime, supervision for those convicted of a sexual offense.
